Certificados de Profesionalidad

What are certificates of professionalism?

What are the differences between a certificate of professionalism and an FP degree?

The titles of Vocational Training are studies of longer duration and in which a greater number of contents are taught. By studying some FP studies, you may obtain different units of competence that may be related to a certificate of professionalism. When you finish some FP studies you obtain an academic degree that allows you access to the labor world or continue your studies towards higher levels of training.

The certificates of professionalism are shorter studies and focus exclusively on the contents of the certificate. When you finish the studies leading to a certificate, you get a job title that allows you access to the world of work.

If you have different certificates of professionalism related to a vocational training certificate and the requirements for access to vocational training, you can take the vocational training certificate and request a partial validation of the studies.

Both training courses have a compulsory internship period in companies.

How can I get a certificate of professionalism?

You have two ways to obtain a certificate of professionalism:

  • Doing a training and surpassing all the modules that make up the certificate of professionalism.
  • Participating in a accreditation of competencies process.

If you do not have any professional experience related to the certificate you want to obtain, you will have to take a course to obtain the certificate. If, on the other hand, you have experience in this sector, it is advisable that you first pass through a process of evaluation and accreditation of competences to know if this accreditation is possible and what training actions you will have to carry out in order to obtain the certificate of professionalism.

The labor administrations (SEPE or employment services of the Autonomous Communities ) organize and authorize centers for the delivery of courses to obtain certificates of professionalism.

Some of these courses are subsidized and are included in vocational training courses for employment. Others are carried out in centers accredited by the competent labor administration and are private.

The courses can be done in person, blended or online.

To be homologated, the course must have a minimum of hours and content. Before you sign up for a course, verify that you are offered an official and certified professional certificate by the employment services. If you have doubts about the officiality of any degree, consult the employment service of your autonomous community.
